Systems Change
Our systems change work is in direct alignment with our commitment to racial and gender equity in higher education, which creates increased opportunity for economic mobility for historically marginalized communities. RTB engages in policy and advocacy work at the state level in Minnesota with the Office of Higher Education. We are in the planning stages of policy work in the state of California.
Minnesota Student-Parent Alliance
The MNSPA, co-founded with the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, is a collaborative initiative to enhance economic mobility for student parents by supporting their educational goals and promoting the well-being of their families.
State Advisory Board in California
Coming soon…
We have proposed the implementation of a unique state-wide council of single-parent students, which would serve as an advisory board to policy makers and institutional leaders. It would represent the voices of single-parent students who are the most vulnerable in that they do not have the advantage of emotional and financial support of a partner. Their needs are very different and require a system-wide approach that addresses and commits to data collection, programmatic support, narrative building (mental models), and leadership and development.
