Open for Residents!
On Friday, October 25th, Raise The Barr celebrated the grand opening of The Huddle on 5th. We are currently accepting applications!
Every year, we host a unique party in each of our regions to celebrate our scholars, our community, and the impact we are making for families across California and Minnesota.

We currently partner one college in Long Beach, one in Minneapolis, and three in Los Angeles!

RTB Breaks Ground on The Huddle on 5th
Our impact is expanding! On Thursday, October 26, 2023, we broke ground on a brand-new apartment complex in West Sacramento, which will house the families of 18 single parents who are enrolled in local post-secondary institutions.

RTB Featured in Raising Up Docuseries
Raising Up is a five-part docuseries highlighting key needs and experiences of student parents throughout the United States. The fourth episode, which addresses the cruciality of stable housing for parenting college students, spotlights our own cohort member Amonieka, as well our housing project, “The Huddle,” which is set to open this fall.

Nikki almost missed out on receiving any accolades when graduating despite her stellar 3.93 GPA. After making her University aware of systematic barriers that prevented her from being eligible to graduate with honors, Nikki was awarded the Richard J. Tony award.

Brenda is set to graduate from UCLA in just a couple of weeks with a degree in Sociology. She was recently accepted into graduate school at both UCLA and USC!

When her sons were born, Chineva received hurtful and damaging comments about being a single parent. Over the years, she has challenged such negative assumptions by raising Juélz and Caden with unwavering wisdom, grit, and compassion. Single-parent student or not, we all have something to learn from hearing Chineva’s story.

Maria Canar is strong, beautiful, and funny. She is the mother of two amazing little girls, an immigrant from Ecuador, a first-generation college student, and now a 2020 graduate of University of Minnesota!

Jessica is a thriver. That’s my word for someone who exceeds expectations. On top of proving every negative statistic wrong (you know the ones) she has excelled in life. Jessica was a 2017 RTB scholar, receiving support during her final year in school.
