Empowering single-parent students to build brighter futures
Through education, support, and opportunity, we’re breaking barriers and building dreams.
Our Strategic Vision:
Building Impact
As we approach our 10-year anniversary, our strategic plan sets a bold path forward—centered on program expansion, financial sustainability, and organizational stability.
We’re growing our support for single-parent scholars by expanding programs, replicating successful residential models, and strengthening our 2Gen approach to uplift both parents and their children. With data-driven insights and scholar voice at the center, we’re focused on everything from basic needs to career development.
In response to rising living costs and housing instability, we’re doubling down on affordable housing and essential supports. And through strong partnerships with colleges and community organizations, we’re scaling solutions that offer holistic support to single-parent students.
Internally, we’re investing in leadership, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability—ensuring we’re ready for the next decade of impact.
Join us in celebrating this milestone and reviewing our impact from 2024. Your continued support, passion, and expertise are vital to our next decade of success.

At Raise The Barr, we invest in the future of single-parent students and their families.
Single parents are resourceful, resilient, hard-working, and creative. They are always on duty, with little reprieve. And without the right resources, they often face barriers that other parents and students do not.
We partner with single parents pursuing degrees in California and Minnesota, along with their children, to remove these barriers and create vibrant futures.
Our Programming Model:
Our programming model brings to life our mission, which is to increase opportunity and economic mobility for single-parent families through higher education. While we place single-parent students’ lived experiences at the center of our work, we support the wellness of both parent and child simultaneously to create opportunity and economic mobility for both generations:
